- I'm very proud of this run. I played close to my best throughout and did not make any significant mistakes. It's the culmination of all the improvements in P1 Switch up to this point.
I think this will be unbeaten for a while.
This is the first 47 and yet it's 47 low, I skipped 40s of times that I would have accepted as a final PB, and ended up with 47:15.

I've only followed / done runs on GC pikmin 1 - at day 1 impact site I thought "oh, you can throw so much further in this game, that's kinda neat"
But I didn't actually realize by HOW MUCH until I saw the throws at 15:55 and *actually recoiled*, that's so insane

@@MiksoloI think the guy is using motion controls similar to the Wii version of Pikmin and that allows the player to throw Pikmin even further than with the normal control scheme. Still an incredible run.

The mastery of the mechanics and time management is absolutely insane. Pikmin is one of the most fascinating speedruns to exist, great job!

I just beat Pikmin for the first time and felt so proud going from a 30 day run to a 15 day run. What a foolish mortal I was when compared to this divine speedrun.

I love how even with god-tier play that as far as I can tell is absolutely flawless…you still have to whistle the pikmin away from carrying defeated prey away mid battle. They are bound and determined to find an inch to be goobers.
It's so satisfying to see these tougher enemies get fooled or outright annihilated. Countless pikmin had been eaten or murdered in my teens when I was proud to finish all parts in like 26 days 😂
GG for this run, that was a real treat to watch.
this is SO satisfying to watch. Seeing the barriers and bridges falling down with numbered pikmin as soon as Olimar approaches them in a time ago is just amazing. Amazing content

I was very proud of myself after not having played this game since I was about 7 on GC in 12 days (on GC ROM). Would have been 11 had it not been for the final boss where i was almost out of time.

What’s the 20:38 trick where you get the faraway bomb-holding yellows in your party by switching Pikmin type held? Is it a switch exclusive trick? Killer run by the way as always :)

I knew when I played the switch version, the combination of the control scheme from GCN and Wii would help significantly in lowering times
Amazing run! At 14:00, could there maybe be a time save, where pikmin are called off the fuel dynamo early, similar to the nova blaster, and it is collected when sagittarius is being carried to the ship?
There are lots of small reasons it's not worth it, but the main one is that it gets in the way and slows other stuff down. Also it changes the part count, so I would not be able to get the Area Cutscene Skip as at 16:55

Really cool speedrun, I'm just wondering what exactly causes the sound to get all messed up as the run progresses?
Cutscene skips are caused by a race condition, which means 2 things happening at once, getting the unexpected behaviour. Sounds will disappear until you trigger a few textboxes or go to sunset as a byproduct.
And still feels like there's small opportunities for optimization 👀👀

Edit: I just checked. You did attempt it in the last WR, but failed.

What version is this? PAL, NTSC? Is their a difference? I've got the gamecube version and want to try this but if the clock goes slower on one version, (PAL or NTSC) or a version has bugs removed I'd like to know beforehand.
This is the Switch version, which as far as we know has no regional differences. I am in Europe.
Playing on GC, avoid PAL as it runs at 5/6 speed. It doesn't matter too much, I learnt pikmin speedrunning on PAL for months. NTSC-U is the preferred GC version because secret safe weighs 40 and therefore carries faster. That's the only valid difference.
I just thought id look at the switch ver speedrun for fun and no fucking way you used the day 2 tas strat to get out of base, how long did that take u to get consistant?
I discovered that specific OOB. I've been playing for a while now, and I've done lots of challenge runs that involve part pushing and object pushing, so I'm reasonably experienced in that area. Further, I've done speedruns dating back to my 50 pikmin run or 5 parts runs 6 years ago that use this trick.

How you extend the reticle to throw Pikmin further? Or does it only work when the camera is zoomed out?
gyro control im pretty sure
Yeah. You need gyro on, have your aim at its furthest normal and then as you press and hold the throw button you can extend it further by using the gyro untill you let go for long enough after wich it retracts back to normal range (the not holding it for long enough is importand because it allows you to spam throw at an extended range, something you couldnt do in the original)
Do you have a spreadsheet and keep track of how long time all the different tasks are gonna take or is this all in your head? There's a lot of stuff going on at once here, all coming together. It's very impressive!
Of course I know the route by heart, but it's not as complicated as keeping track of everything at all times, just what tasks I do next

No it doesn't make any noticeable difference. Nice idea though! You can lay down in front of stuff to displace it or slow it down though.

How do they far throw the pikmin?
Wii version allowed you to do that since you can aim the cursor farther than the GameCube version. That got carried over to the switch port.

Yes, missing some of the cutscenes are my greatest shame in this run. Doing what I am generally able to do, this could have been 46. HOWEVER when I miss cutscenes it's because I'm trying to reduce the number of textboxes required, so it all goes to an expected timesave per cutscene skip attempted, which on average is quite good (but not as great as on GC due to requiring use of the ship on switch or the cutscene skips would fail).
Also, when I miss a cutscene after bringing up a textbox, usually this is because I estimate how many frames are left before the part is collected, then I try to allow a few frames in the overworld to progress on purpose, so to again reduce required textboxes for the skip. This is an extremely advanced skill with high skill ceiling.
@@Mokaygee for sure, for massage machine I was like “yeah in 2 clicks that’s in”. And boom it went in in 2 clicks and I felt like a god haha. Rando really made me understand how cut scene skips in all the areas work because of all the different shapes and paths
Now I have no excuse to fail them; yet I do 💀
